Overview

This Diploma qualification is designed to equip participants with the required knowledge & skills to coordinate and maintain the Work Health and Safety (WHS) program in an organization. This program is designed to equip participants with well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base to apply Work Health and Safety (WHS) principles in a wide variety of contexts. Students will learn to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others.

Online training is available for this course.
Duration and Delivery

This qualification is delivered over a period of 480 hours. Participants enrolled in this course will have up to 52 weeks including holidays to complete the course requirements.

*With the current pandemic situation, a number of classroom sessions will be delivered online to enhance safety of students and trainers.

Please note: The course duration may vary for individual students based on their current academic and work experience. All students will be assessed on an individual basis for their ability to meet the course requirements within an extended or reduced time frame.

Format

This Diploma can be delivered using either face to face delivery in our premises or online. Educators will be available to provide necessary support on request.

Career Pathway

Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress to the Advanced Diploma of Work Health and Safety or to gain employment in Work Health and Safety.

Who May Attend

This management stream qualification is suitable for people who coordinate and maintain the Work Health and Safety (WHS) program in an organisation. It reflects the role of practitioners who apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts. They may work in a range of industries such as manufacturing and/or services.

 Although LLN test is not an entry requirement, students are asked to undertake a pre-training review to ensure that appropriate academic support can be provided throughout the duration of the study.

Assessment

Assessments will be conducted to determine the achievement of competency-based learning outcomes. Assessments may include written case study assignments, projects, written reports, workshop attendance and simulated workplace assessments.

Qualification description

Diploma of Work Health and Safety requires successful completion of 10 units. These include 5 Core Units and 5 Elective Units selected from the A and B listing in the packaging specification as specified in the BSB Business Services Training Package.
