This qualification is delivered over a period of 1033 hours including 320 hours placement. Participants enrolled in this course will have up to 15 months to complete the course requirements.
This qualification will be delivered using a combination of classroom-based delivery and other student participation methods. This will include classroom sessions, skills training, assisted self-directed study, assessments and assessment assistance and professional practice experience to build on participant’s knowledge and skills on-the-job.

This qualification reflects the role of workers who assist a dentist, dental hygienist, dental prosthetist, dental therapist or oral health therapist during oral health care procedures. Their role includes maintaining high standards of infection control, assisting with practice administration and supporting quality and professionalism in the dental sector.
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who want to take the role of assisting a dentist, dental hygienist, dental prosthetist, dental therapist or oral health therapist during oral health care procedures.
The minimum age for eligible applicants is 18 years. Applicants must have successfully completed the equivalent of Year 11 according to the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Proficiency in English is required to meet Industry standards.
Although LLN test is not an entry requirement, students may be asked to undertake the same so that appropriate academic support can be ensured throughout the course of study.
Students may be able to shorten the length of their studies through the recognition of the past experience and/or qualifications gained elsewhere. Applications can be made for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer. These will be assessed according to the college’s policy & procedures to determine if/how much advanced standing will be granted. This qualification holds National Recognition.
Assessments will be conducted to determine the student learning outcomes and to finalize the achievement of the competency-based learning outcomes. Assessments may include written questions, case studies, projects, practice activities, skills demonstration and on the job role environment / practical placement environment tasks.
